The English Montessori Preschool provides a program especially suited to the needs of the child.
The Montessori method of education offers individual attention to the development of the child on the whole and the foundation on which the child can build his/her future success and happiness.
In our stress-free environment, the child experiences learning as a fun process. Each child has freedom of choice to work undisturbed in a group or individual setting. The children become harmonious in movement, independent in work and caring, honest and helpful with one another.
The school gives the children an atmosphere of a homelike environment, allowing close and warm working relationships to be formed. We have created what Maria Montessori called a ‘Children’s House’. The children develop independence, self-confidence, and self-discipline and learn skills needed for higher education.
It is the goal of the school to help this generation of children to be the positive future of our world based upon their own abilities and talents, to communicate effectively using the English language, and to develop a sensitivity to the cultures of people all over the world.
Over 40% of our children enter the school as native English speakers or from bilingual families. The remaining 60% are from the German community. In the past, our ESL (English as a Second Language) students have come from as many as 12 different nationalities. Children should be free of any serious physical handicaps requiring special equipment (wheelchair, crutches), but they do not need to be toilet trained.
There are 3 classrooms in the school, 2 full day and one morning/afternoon class. The student-teacher ratio is 2 teachers per 15 children. Each group has a mix of children from the age of 2.5 - 6 years old, as well as a balance of sex and nationalities. The Montessori method of Education is practiced in all classes and each is fully equipped with Montessori educational materials
